Drastic changes in weather or prolonged exposure to sun and heat can do a number on your hair and scalp. Instead of dropping money on expensive remedies, why not just head to your kitchen instead?
In my previous article, I shared my love of this magic oil and how it can significantly improve and balance your skin. Well, olive oil doesn’t stop there. It can do wonders for your scalp and hair as well. One of my favorite treatments is so simple and inexpensive! I wrap myself in a towel so as not to get oil on any clothes. I warm up about three tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil (use more or less depending on the length of your hair). I do not cook the oil. I just place it in a cup and let it warm in the sun. Then, I gently massage the warmed olive oil into my scalp using my fingertips. From there I begin to work the oil through the rest of my hair from scalp to tip. I prefer to leave the olive oil on my hair for up to an hour but a half hour will soothe the hair and scalp. When I finish my treatment, I shampoo and condition as usual. I have found that this treatment reduces dandruff, minimizes split ends, and allows my hair to retain moisture and shine.
APPLE CIDER VINEGAR
I have a firm belief that Apple Cider Vinegar can probably cure 99% of your problems. Taken internally, Apple Cider Vinegar produces fantastic results for your health. When applied externally, it removes residue from hair products, eliminates tangles, and leaves your hair shiny. I always use raw apple cider vinegar for the same reasons that I use extra virgin olive oil. I want the least amount of chemicals to have treated the product before it touches my skin or hair. Mix equal parts Apple Cider Vinegar and water in a spray bottle. Shampoo your hair as usual. Instead of reaching for the conditioner, pick up your spray bottle with the solution already mixed. Spray onto your wet hair and massage into the scalp all the way down to the ends of your hair. Let the solution sit on your hair for a few minutes and rinse. Resist the urge to condition your hair! Just allow the Apple Cider Vinegar to work its magic. Simply rinse and let your hair dry. You may want to experiment with the amount of Apple Cider Vinegar to water ratio. Oily hair responds better to a higher amount of Apple Cider Vinegar.
